Job description
The Payroll & Benefits Coordinator will review and process the compensation schedule and ensure each staff member is paid accurately bi-weekly. The payroll and benefits coordinator will work closely with other financial personnel to account for wage garnishments, employment taxes, and retirement accounts within each employee’s paycheck and assist employees with benefit-related questions as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities include:
- Administration of paychecks, deduction summaries, and earning statements for Costex Corporation on a biweekly schedule.
- Evaluate the accuracy of timesheets submitted by each department every week and contact supervisors or individual employees when there is a discrepancy.
- Respond to any errors in payroll by reviewing past records and making any wage corrections or adjustments when necessary.
- Track employee absences through the payroll software and record details about personal days, sick leave, jury duty, and extended leaves of absence.
- Answer employee questions about payroll, leave amounts, tax forms, and other compensation issues when asked.
- Be responsible for changing employee bank records when necessary to process payments accurately.
- Responsible for maintaining proper employee documentation related to W-4s and issuing annual W-2s.
- The Payroll Administrator will processes and monitor unemployment insurance claim records.
- Experience using Paychex and Novatime Time and Attendance system is a plus.
- Responsible for Creating salary sheets and reports and collaborating with other financial personnel.
Qualifications:
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word, Paychex (time and attendance) and Navigator (benefits) systems, and other software applications as required. Must have strong mathematical and numerical aptitude. Must be accurate and thorough.
- Must demonstrate a sound knowledge of HR, benefits, and payroll-related policies, procedures, and applications.
- Meticulous attention to detail is mandatory as is the ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and ensure accuracy with highly confidential information.
